CHRIS 10TH IN WARSAW. One of the biggest speedway meetings of the year was held in Warsaw, Poland when Speedway Grand Prix series continued with second round. There was over 50,000 fans in Poland’s national stadium, PGE Narodowy. Chris was struggling with his starts in opening round two weeks ago and scored six points. Chris was 12th in the standings going to Warsaw.

It wasn’t much better night for Chris than opening round in Krsko, Slovenia. In first heat Chris was left last after battling for third place with Greg Hancock. So no points from first ride. In second heat Chris was last again, so after two ridden heats Chris was still seeking for first point of the night.

That point finally came in Chris’ third heat, when he got better of wild card Poland’s Przemyslaw Pawlicki. Chris was third on the finish line scoring one point. In fourth one Chris finally found his speed. After nice ride Chris kept other three riders behind his back to take first heat win of the night. That also kept small hopes for the semifinals alive.

In last heat fellow Australian Jason Doyle was leading before Chris, but then Emil Sayfutdinov crashed and was disqualified from the re-run. In re-run Piotr Pawlicki won the heat, Chris taking second place and two points before Doyle. Aussies had a nice battle for second place and after swapping places few times Chris got better of Doyle taking that second place.

Chris’ six points weren’t enough for the semifinals this time, so Chris came 10th in the meeting. Martin Vaculik took last semifinal spot with eight points. Chris has 12 points after two rounds and is in 12th place in standings. After difficult start to the season Chris is aiming better performance in third round in Daugavpils, Latvia. Last two heats were much better and are something to build on future. Third round will be held on 27.05.17 May.
