SIX POINT FOR CHRIS IN MÅLILLA

Speedway Grand Prix series came back from three weeks break when seventh round took place in Målilla, Sweden on Saturday night. Chris was on 11th place in the championship standings just five points short of top eight spot.

Chris started the meeting with third spot in his opening ride after passing Peter Kildemand. In second heat Chris got a difficult gate four. Chris was left on last place and couldn’t make passes. Chris was left without points so only one point from two first rides.

In third ride Chris was third again, this time Chris got better of wild card Linus Sundstrom. Two points from three rides, so Chris was needing points to make the semifinals. In fourth heat Chris got inside gate. In first two attempts Martin Smolinski and Matej Zagar were disqualified. In third attempt Chris made a great start and looked fast for the first time in the meeting. Important heat win lifted Chris to five points and there was still a chance for a semifinal.

In last heat Chris had nice battle for points, but in the end was left third and taking a point. Six points from five rides weren’t enough for semifinals when Piotr Pawlicki took last semifinal spot with same points as Chris. Chris’ night ended after regular heats.

Chris is now on 11th place in the standings, nine points behind Martin Vaculik on last qualification spot for next year’s series. Next round will take place on two weeks time in Gorzow, Poland.
